Privacy Policy

The short version

CRYPTO QUILL is a news site. You can read almost everything we publish without telling us who you are. We collect the minimum data needed to run the site, measure readership, and pay for it all with advertising. We do not sell your personal information, we never ask for wallet credentials of any kind, and when you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, you email support@cryptoquill.com with “Privacy” in the subject line and we deal with it. The longer version follows, and we have tried to write it in plain language rather than in the dialect privacy policies are usually written in.

What we collect automatically

When you visit, our servers and service providers process the technical data that any website processes: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and timestamps. This is used for security, for keeping the site up under load, and for aggregate statistics such as which stories are being read. Server logs containing IP addresses are retained for a limited operational period and then deleted or anonymised.

We use analytics to understand readership in aggregate. Analytics data is about patterns, not people: we look at how many readers an article had, not at what you personally read.

What we collect when you give it to us

• Email. If you write to us, we receive your address and whatever you chose to tell us. Correspondence about corrections and legal matters is kept as a record; ordinary correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful.
• Tips. If you send us a tip, we treat the fact that you contacted us as confidential. Source protection is an editorial commitment described in our Editorial Standards, and it operates on top of this policy, not instead of it.
• Newsletter. If we operate a newsletter and you subscribe, we store your email address for the sole purpose of sending it, and every issue contains an unsubscribe link that actually works.

What we never collect

We never ask for, store, or want your seed phrases, private keys, exchange API keys, or wallet passwords. There is no legitimate reason for a news site to hold any of these. Any request for them that appears to come from us is fraud, full stop, and we would appreciate a report of it to support@cryptoquill.com.

If we publish analysis of on-chain activity, we are analysing a public blockchain, which is public by design and not data you gave to us. We do not attempt to link wallet addresses to the real-world identities of private individuals, and we do not publish such links about private individuals.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies for site functionality, analytics, and advertising. Rather than duplicating the details here, we keep them in one place: our Cookie Policy lists the categories we use, what third parties are involved, and how to control all of it, including how to withdraw consent where consent applies.

Advertising

Advertising pays for the journalism. We work with third-party advertising networks that may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, and depending on your region and your consent choices, to personalise them. These networks operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read, and where the law requires consent for personalised advertising you will be asked for it before it happens. Declining personalisation does not block you from reading anything.

Some articles contain affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you sign up to a service through them. Affiliate networks may set cookies to attribute the referral. These links are disclosed, and our Ownership & Funding page explains the editorial rules that keep them from influencing coverage.

Embedded content

Articles may embed material from other platforms: charts, social media posts, videos. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the platform it came from, and that platform may collect data about you under its own policy. Where practical we use privacy-conscious embed options, but the honest statement is that an embedded post is a small window into someone else’s data practices.

Legal bases and your rights

Depending on where you live, data protection law gives you rights over your personal information: to know what we hold, to receive a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing rests on consent. Where such laws apply to us, we process data on the bases of legitimate interests (running and securing a news site), consent (personalised advertising and newsletters), and legal obligation (records we are required to keep).

To exercise any of these rights, email support@cryptoquill.com with “Privacy” in the subject line. We will need enough information to find your data and to be reasonably sure the request is really from you, and we will respond within the timeframe the applicable law sets. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, though we would rather you gave us the chance to fix things first.

Data sharing and transfers

We share data with service providers who host the site, deliver analytics, send email, and serve advertising, each bound to use it only to provide their service. We disclose data where the law genuinely requires it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not hand reader data to token projects, exchanges, or anyone else with a marketing budget. Because our providers operate internationally, data may be processed in countries other than yours, with safeguards where the law requires them.

Retention and security

We keep personal data only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, then delete or anonymise it. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend ours is, but if a breach materially affects your data we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Children

The site is not directed at children, and given that our subject matter is a high-risk financial market, we actively do not want an audience of minors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes and contact
