In a chilling act of violence, Antônio Vinicius Gritzbach, a Brazilian businessman and cryptocurrency expert with alleged ties to one of the country’s most notorious criminal groups, was shot dead at Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo. Gritzbach, who had recently struck a plea deal with authorities, was in the process of cooperating with investigations into Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), a powerful drug gang, when he was targeted in a brutal attack that left three others injured.

Security footage from the airport captured the moment two hooded gunmen, armed with sub-machine guns, exited a vehicle and began firing outside the terminal. In fact, security services in Portugal recently reported that the PCC had 1,000 associates in the capital city, Lisbon, highlighting the group’s international scope. The gang is believed to generate nearly $1 billion annually through international cocaine trafficking, further cementing its status as a major player in the global drug trade.

Following the assassination, authorities have launched an investigation into the killing, with the involvement of the PCC suspected in the targeted hit.
